Subway Mattes

These are a mixture of speed painting and matte painting for quick ideation based on a new personal project (same one the zombiens from below were created for). I was kinda going for a "campaign" feel with these, hence the similar compositions.

Hope ya dig.

zombaliens

think of these guys as bums turned zombie turned alien parasite host. i figured out a few shortcuts with my process, so these guys only took 45 - 60 minutes each. more on the way. looooots more.

Vroom

WIP for my dad's birthday and as an asset for my new illustration. Double up !

I've been trying to inject speed into my concept work. Figuring out ways to simplify problems rather than throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks, which I still do far too often. There's a fine line you need to walk as a production artist, where-in both under-thinking and over-thinking inevitably destroy the potential of your work.

--

The circular building is from a photo I took in Seattle, the rest is speed painted in. Just working out some new techniques, many of which are borrowed from Dylan Cole.

Alternate cropping that I kind of like better.

Character design done in one quick sitting. Trying to get as speedy with character thumbs as good ol' Zacharicious has been lately.

More on the way...

Boob Runner

New illustration I'm working on. I tend to start with a set of rough thumbnails before the line stage, but I was pretty sure on what direction I wanted to go with long before I started. Lines were approved, and here we are.

The concept is basically a strip club located on the lowest rung of a stacking shanty-town city. The environment is rather toxic, so the girls stay confined to their cryo-tubes and the waitresses wear protective gear, the air-tight oxygen helmet being of particular importance.

Final coming sooooon(ish).
